The club is a recognised RYA training centre and has RYA approved instructors who can offer competent crew, day skipper and coastal skipper courses at our summer base at Largs in Scotland. As a temporary arrangement (until December 2022) the club is offering the two day Start Yachting course at our winter base at Liverpool Marina.

From 2021 we can now offer RYA First Aid, Radar and Diesel Engine courses, keep a look out for dates on the 5KSC Sailing Program. Training courses and opportunities are also listed in the News section see links on the right.

Sail Training with CSSA
All CSSA clubs offer coaching to members and some also offer Royal Yachting Association training courses in dinghies or yachts. The RYA is a national organisation that sets standards for the delivery of training through Recognised Training Centres (RTCs) in the UK and overseas. RYA qualifications are recognised around the world and can lead to diverse sailing opportunities from skippering CSSA yachts, ocean racing, crewing luxury yachts, to earning a living as a dinghy or Yachtmaster Instructor.

Online Theory Training
5KSC is now in partnership with Kipper Sailing (also called Skippers online) who provide online theory courses. These include RYA Day, Coastal, Yachtmaster and Ocean skipper qualification.
Prices can be seen at https://www.kippersailing.co.uk/ and on our application form for members below.
5KSC members will generate a discount of £75 or more paid to the club which can then be spent by you on a practical course run by 5KSC. This discount will revert to 5KSC general funds if the course is not completed within 3 years of finishing the theory course.
